Our back story
As the gaming landscape changes, we’re conscious of how many new skills teams need to succeed. The winners not only have rockstar creative, production and software engineering talent, but also find ways to engage and integrate performance marketing, business intelligence, behavioural psychology, product management and many, many more strategic & business disciplines that traditionally our industry has under-utilised. They also understand the need to be co-operative, participatory, collaborative and mutually supporting – world-class success feeds on openness and the sharing of expertise and experience.
In 2014 we decided that London needed a place which brought this ethos to bear, so all four co-founders invested their own funds to launch playhubs. We opened our doors in Somerset House in January 2015.
playhubs is designed as the environment that brings that cross-functional talent together, offering not just a co-working location, but also a programme of regular events, presentations, social evenings, fire-side chats, panel groups and regular Q&A sessions. We work closely with each team offering personal mentoring, as well as leveraging our networks to ensure they receive access to world-class people, information, processes, best-practice, tools, technology and know-how, giving them the best platform to succeed.
Across the playhubs founders we have one of the world’s most extensive networks throughout the industry. We leverage these friends and contacts to provide support, presentations, mentoring and know-how to our members. playhubs is a global community of trust and knowledge sharing. As a member you will be connected to the highest profile and most successful studios, partners, platform holders, distributors and service providers throughout the world.
playhubs is constantly hosting events, ranging from purely social, to formal presentations, and fire-side chats with industry heroes. Some events are exclusively for our members, such as sessions including raising finance, managing cash flow, tips from platform holders, ad-networks, business intelligence, user acquisition, behavioural psychology and monetisation mechanics. If you’re interested in these events you can request an invite and we will include you if space permits. We also host regular public-facing meetups which are open to all.
We are proud to be part of Somerset House, a unique part of the London cultural scene – an historic building where surprising and original work comes to life.
From its 18th century origins, Somerset House has been a centre for debate and discussion – an intellectual powerhouse for the nation. Somerset House is today a key cultural destination in London in which to experience a broad range of artistic activity, engage with artists, designers and makers and be a part of a major creative forum – an environment that is relaxed, welcoming to all and inspirational to visit while providing a stimulating workplace for the cultural and creative industries.
It is now the home of London Fashion Week in February and September each year and probably the biggest community of creative organisations in London including the The Courtauld Gallery and Institute of Art, King’s College London Cultural Institute and over 100 other creative businesses.
